A Year of Innovation, Milestones & IoT Successes: 2025 at ithinx
2025 was a year of momentum, technological progress, and close collaboration for ithinx. From international trade fairs and strategic partnerships to key product and platform milestones, we set numerous impulses together.
January: wibutler alliance’s Strategy Meeting 2025 in Berlin
The year began for ithinx with an inspiring kickoff at the wibutler alliance Strategy Meeting 2025 in Berlin. More than 40 partners from a wide range of industries came together to shape the future of digital building technology. Key topics included wibutler’s new brand strategy, the integration of Matter in smart homes, and practical solutions for vendor-independent energy applications. What stood out in particular was the strong commitment of all participants to bringing digital building solutions into real-world use – a powerful start that set the tone for the months ahead.
February: E-world for Energy & Water
In February, ithinx attended E-world in Essen, Europe’s leading trade fair for the energy industry. The event provided valuable opportunities to discuss current challenges such as the digitalization of energy markets, the integration of renewable energy sources, and storage solutions. ithinx presented its IoT solutions for seamless data acquisition and connectivity, supporting companies in implementing the energy transition efficiently.
March: Embedded World & New Initiatives
March was defined by industry events and strategic developments. At embedded world Exhibition & Conference 2025, ithinx showcased practical IoT solutions for HVAC systems for the second time and engaged directly with visitors looking to digitalize their products.
At the same time, ithinx joined the ZBOSS Open Initiative (ZOI) and integrated the ZBOSS Unified Zigbee Stack into the iXpro system-on-module, further enhancing interoperability and efficiency across IoT products.
In addition, ithinx announced its membership in the SGeT, underlining its active role in shaping and standardizing open technologies within the embedded and IoT ecosystem.
April: iXpro Brand Launch & Cologne Business Run
April marked an important milestone for ithinx: the iXpro brand was officially registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office, reinforcing the long-term strategic direction of the gateway solution. Alongside this business achievement, the team strengthened its sense of togetherness at the Cologne Business Run, celebrating spring with a shared sporting challenge.
May: Trade Fairs, Partnerships & Industry Events
May was characterized by intensive trade fair activities, expert forums, and strategic partnerships. At smarter E / Intersolar in Munich, the team gained insights into the latest developments in renewable energy and exchanged ideas with international experts.
At the same time, ithinx presented embedded and edge solutions at the NXP Tech Days in Stuttgart, supporting developers in building connected IoT products.
The collaboration with Ambiq to integrate the Apollo510 platform opened up new possibilities for ultra-low-power edge AI applications.
June: IoT Forum
The highlight of the first half of the year was the IoT Forum hosted together with wibutler. Participants gained hands-on insights into digital building technology, experienced live demonstrations, and discussed valuable best practices in an open and practical setting.
July: ithinx Summer Party
In July, the focus shifted to the team. At the annual summer party, colleagues came together for great conversations, good food, and music. It was an opportunity to celebrate the successful projects of the first half of the year and the strong collaboration within the team.
August: Wireless Technology Insights
August was dedicated to technical content. In our comparison of key wireless standards for IoT and smart building projects, we analyzed Zigbee, Thread, and Bluetooth Low Energy in terms of range, power consumption, and security, providing users with a solid foundation for choosing the right technology.
September: The Things Conference
In September, ithinx attended The Things Conference, an international gathering of IoT experts. The focus was on the latest developments in LoRaWAN and the connectivity of IoT ecosystems. The event delivered valuable impulses for future projects and offered excellent opportunities to connect with IoT professionals from around the world.
November: Milestones & Trade Fair Highlights
November was an especially eventful month for ithinx. One of the key highlights of 2025 was our strategic positioning within the international IoT ecosystem. With iXpro® and the iXpro® SMARC® module, ithinx will be represented at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The platforms were handed over to NXP and will be showcased there as part of the NXP ecosystem.
This underlines our ambition to provide scalable embedded and IoT platforms for industrial and smart applications – visible at the place where future standards, technologies, and partnerships take shape.
Another significant technical milestone was the introduction of our officially registered MAC address pool (OUI E4-8F-09), enabling unique device identities for scalable IoT solutions.
Equally valuable was the exchange within the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). Throughout the year, we participated in CSA-related events and formats, actively engaging in discussions around Matter, Thread, and Zigbee. The focus was clearly on practical implementation, real-world interoperability, and the challenges of certification, radio performance, and system integration.
For ithinx, this close involvement with the CSA was a key element in sharpening our role as a technical system integrator for IoT and embedded solutions – not merely as a standards implementer, but as a partner supporting customers early on with architecture decisions, pre-compliance, and the preparation of Matter-enabled products.
The exchange with technology partners and fellow CSA members further validated our platform strategy around iXpro and iXnode and provided important impulses for upcoming product and customer projects.
Last but not least, representatives from STMicroelectronics visited our Cologne office. As STMicroelectronics plays a key role in the semiconductor landscape of the Carrier–Viessmann Climate Solutions ecosystem, we were delighted to offer insights into our labs, our development approach, and current projects, and to engage in a valuable exchange.
December: End of Year Wrap-Up
The year concluded with a moment of reflection, appreciation, and shared celebration after twelve months of innovation, collaboration, and technical milestones. For the team, it was a fitting close to look back with pride on what was achieved and to recharge for the year ahead. In a joint workshop, we also planned the start of 2026 and are already looking forward to the next steps toward an even stronger solution portfolio.
